Coast Guard forces in Chittagong recovered 10 lakh pieces of intoxicated yaba from the coast area of Gohira under Anowara Upazila in either bank of the River Karnaphuli on Monday night.
In connection of yaba trafficking, 2 persons were apprehended from the spot. The names of the detained could not be identified till writing this report and estimated their age about 60 and 45 years respectively.
Acting on secret information about the trafficking of yaba from Myanmar area toward chittagong city, coast guard forces conducted raid in Gohira coastal areas.
Other accomplices of the detained and boatmen fled away quickly sensing the presence of the law enforcers, sources said. Anowara thana officer in-charge Abdul Latif told that two drug peddlers alongwith the recovered yabas handed over to police by coast guard forces. In this connection, a press conference was held at CG East zone office in Patenga yesterday afternoon, sources said.
