A suspected Yaba trader was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups of Yaba traders at Kata Pahar in Kalatoli area of Sadar upazila early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Mostaq Ahmed alias Haji Mafiz, 25.
Being tipped off that two groups of Yaba traders were exchanging gunfire over establishing dominance in the area, a team of police went to the spot and found Mostaq lying in a pool of blood in the early hours on Friday, said
Bakhtier Uddin Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Later, he was taken to Sadar hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police recovered 2800 pieces of Yaba pills, firearms and bullets from the spot. Mafiz was wanted in several cases, said the OC.
