Writer Hayat Mamud’s 81st birthday celebrated

Country’s renowned essayist and writer Dr Hayat Mamud’s 81st birthday was celebrated in Dhaka on Saturday.
Publishing house ‘Puthiniloy’ organized a celebration program marking this occasion at their Banglabazar office auditorium. DU Fine Arts Dean artist Nisar Hossain, Professor Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque, Poet Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam, writer Bulbul Chowdhury, writer Jakir Talukdar and Dr Md Amin were present at the event and reminisced about the glorious career of Hayat Mamud.
Expressing his gratitude, Mamud said “Our lives are eternally liable to love. We are not immortal, but love has no boundary or mortality whatsoever. It will remain in the world until the ending- and I thank everyone for loving me throughout my life.”
Born in 1939, Hayat Mamud has cemented his legacy as country’s one of the legendary litterateurs. He is best known for his translation works, as well as for his autobiographical write-ups for children.
