A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Sunday seeking its directives on the authorities concerned to take steps so that doctors and nurses do not call any strike.
On behalf of the Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh, Advocate Manzill Murshid filed the public interest litigation petition. The Health Secretary, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services, and directors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, BSMMU,
Mitford Hospital and Suhrawardy Hospital among 23 have been made respondents to the writ.
The writ also sought necessary steps against those call the strike in hospitals. The writ may come up for hearing today, said Manzill Murshid.
He said, medical services at different hospitals are hampered due to the strike enforced by the doctors and nurses, causing immense sufferings to patients.
