A writ petition was filed with High Court on Tuesday seeking judicial investigation into the remarks made by Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu about misappropriation of money from Test Relief (TR) and Food for Work (Kabikha).
Senior lawyer of the Supreme Court Yunus Ali Akanda filed the writ after the news was published in the newspaper.
The Cabinet, the Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD), the Food, the Disaster Management and Relief, the Agriculture, the Finance secretaries and the
Information Minister have been made respondents.
The petition is likely to go before a HC bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza Ul Hoque and Justice JN Deb Choudhury on Wednesday.
On June 24, Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu said at a programme, half of the TR and Kabikha goes to the pockets of the MPs. His statement drew fierce criticisms and strong protests from the MPs so much so that and the minister had to apologize in the Parliament on Monday.
“MPs will work to make laws and the local representatives will supervise development work. But the relief fund is handled by the MPs, which is contradictory to the Article 31 of the Constitution,” Inu said.
Advocate Yunus Ali said”I have filed the writ so that nobody can misappropriate public money.”
