World Wildlife Day today

The World Wildlife Day will be observed today (March 3) with a view to protect the world biodiversity.
Bangladesh along with the other countries across the world has taken various initiatives to celebrate the day amid befitting manner.
On 20 December 2013, the sixty-eighth session of the United Nations General Assembly decided to proclaim March 3, the day of the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), as World Wildlife Day, to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild fauna and flora.

Ban Ki Moon has given a message on the eve of the day.
In his message the UN chief said, “While the threats to wildlife are great, we can reduce them through our collective efforts. On this inaugural World Wildlife Day, I urge all sectors of society to end illegal wildlife trafficking and commit to trading and using wild plants and animals sustainably and equitably”.
In Bangladesh, the Ministry of Environment and Forests will observe the day with a theme to check illegal poacher and trafficking of the wild creatures. To mark the day, the ministry and the forest department have organized colorful rally at 10am on Tuesday.
Besides this, discussion meeting and wildlife conservation fair also to be organized to celebrate the World Wildlife Day.
The discussion meeting will be held at Osmani auditorium where Minister for Environment and Forest Anwar Hossain Monju will attend as the chief guest. Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, vice chancellor of the Dhaka University, also will attend as the special guest.
Later, wildlife conservation fair and photography exhibition also will be inaugurated on the occasion.
