Massive security measures have been taken by the law enforcing agencies ahead of the Martyred Intellectuals Day today in capital Dhaka and elsewhere across the country.
The nation will also observe the Victory Day on December 16.
Members of the law enforcing agencies will put in place a four-tier security measures on the day. As part of intensifying security measures, checkpoints will be set up and police cars will be on patrol to avert any untoward situation.The security would be extensively ramped up in the wake of the attacks made in different parts of the country over the last three months.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (media) Muntasirul Islam said that police high-ups had given several important directives on security ahead of the upcoming events.
He said police officials were asked to be on alert till the end of this month and negligence would not be tolerated.
The police had also been instructed to be on alert in winter season as many criminals tend to take advantage of fog to get by after committing crimes.
DMP has decided that police officials of ‘Police Management Order’ in Mirpur and the Special Armed Force in Rajarbagh will discharge their duties in three shifts. The decision has been taken with the aim of helping these officials to perform their duties more efficiently.
Some alternative routes to move around the capital have been suggested by police to avoid traffic problems on the Victory Day. People travelling to Mirpur from Ashulia via Beribadh should use Shah Ali Police Station Road from Nobaberbagh to avoid traffic jam.
Also, those travelling to Gabtoli from Mirpur-10 through Mazar Road should use the route from Mirpur 1 to Technical to Darus Salam Road.
On the other hand, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) made two sets of plans for ensuring security — one set for December 14 and 16 while the other for Christmas and new year’s eve.
Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of the legal and media wing of the RAB, said elite force would be deployed at many important places across the country.
