The World Urban Planning Day was observed on Jahangirnagar University campus with much enthusiasm.
Marking the day, JU Urban and Regional Planning (URP) department brought out a colorful rally from Social Science faculty premises on Monday and ended at Jahir Raihan auditorium premises after parading the main streets on the campus
JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Frazana Islam, Pro-VC Professor Dr. Abul Hossain, Dean of Social Science faculty Professor Dr. Amir Hossain and teachers and students of the department took part at the rally.
Later, a seminar on ‘Housing Reconstruction: Strengthen Society’ was also held at the seminar room of Jahir Raihan auditorium while JU VC Prof Dr. Farzana Islam attended as the chief guest.
JU VC said, ‘urban planning needs a thoughtful cooperation which can be done by the urban planers’. She also said that the urban planning should be properly designed and the ambulance service should be insure for the slums.
Presided over by the Chairman of JU URP Department Dr. Shafiur Rahman, Pro-VC Professor Dr. Abul Hossain, Dean of Social Science Faculty Professor Dr. Amir Hossain and teacher of the department Professor Dr. AKM Abul Kalam also spoke on the occasion.
