Phulki, a national NGO, organized an advocacy workshop on Tuesday at BKMEA, Planners Tower, located in Banglamotor. The main objective of this workshop was to highlight and share the current achievements of Nirapad Project so far and to take logical feedbacks and future commitments for the successful implementation.
The objective of Nirapad Project is to spread awareness on SRH services, empower women in deciding on the choices of MR and Family Planning services and to ensure the knowledge of Sexual Rights to bring them in daily life.
With the consent of Bangladesh Family Planning Ministry and with the fund of Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands, four different organizations – Marie Stopes Bangladesh, Shushilan, BAPSA and Phulki are performing as consortium and working in nine different districts to ensure women empowerment on the choices of Family planning and health rights.
Among them Phulki is working in the garments sector in three different regions – Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur.
The Chairperson of the workshop, Monsur Ahmed, 2nd Senior Vice- President of BKMEA. shared that more of such programmes should be held in the Readymade garments sector.
Special guests Annie Vestjens, 1st Secretary, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands said, 80 percent of the workers who are vulnerable in terms of receiving the health care services are now in the transition phase which is the greatest achievement of Nirapad 2 project.

Here she also mentioned that both the government and private sector should merge and work hand-in-hand to reach out the maximum benefits and to make a sustainable change.
Adding to this Chief Guest, Md. Mahbub-Ul- Alam, Programme Manager, Directorate General of Family Planning mentioned that the project Nirapad 2 was supporting one of the most vital sectors of Social Welfare, and it already did the ground work to take sustainable government initiatives further.
He also added that, he was pleased to welcome Phulki and the other consortiums to work together in terms of smooth Health service delivery.
Masrurul Islam, Country Director of Marie Stopes Bangladesh has also emphasized that the support of government and BKMEA would bring maximum sustainable changes. The workshop was also participated by other partners like SNV Netherlands, Factories and BKMEA Representatives. The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Suraiya Haque , Executive Director, Phulki.
