UNB, Dhaka :
Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport seized 2.3 kgs of gold worth about Tk 1 crore
and arrested a person on Sunday.
The arrested was identified as Nazrul Islam, 42, son of late Mohammad Ali of Satkoria in Laksam upazila of Comilla. Airport sources said Nazrul landed at the airport from a Qatar Airways flight from Qatar at about 9:30 am. Customs officials challenged him at the customs lounge for his suspicious movement. Later, they found the gold inside an LCD monitor kept under a blanket after scanning his luggage around 10:40 am.
When the LCD monitor was unwrapped, 20 gold bars were found inside it. Later, the customs officials arrested Nazrul and handed him over to Airport Police Station.
A case was filed in this connection.
