The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized a workshop on ‘Outcome Based Education (OBE) Outline-BAETE’ on Saturday at the university campus. Dr Engineer Hasan Sarwar, professor of computer science at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, United International University and member, Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE) described the OBE, its criteria and processes as resource person.
Prof Dr Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, BUBT was present as the session chair. Also was present Prof Dr M Ameer Ali, chairman, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE); Engineer M Azharul Haque, associate professor and chairman of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE.); Mohammad Masudur Rahman, director of career guidance, BUBT and faculty members.
Australia and South Africa adopted OBE policies in the early 1990s. It is an educational theory that bases each part of an educational system around goals. It is necessary for the accreditation of the Washington Accord and the Institute of Engineering of Bangladesh (IEB).
