A day-long workshop titled ‘Digital Library User Training’ was held at UGC auditorium in the city on Tuesday. University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) organized the workshop with the support of Taylor & Francis Group.
Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC graced the function as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Member, UGC presided over the workshop. Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC, Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, ndc, Project Director (Additional Secretary), HEQEP and Mahmudul Islam, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Education (MoE) were Special Guests. Khandker Hamidur Rahman, Director, IMCT Division, UGC delivered the welcome address at the programme.
The Chief Guest, in his speech said that at present, 3.2 million students are studying in 142 universities in the country. The number of students would exceed 4 million by 2030.
