Referring to various problems and prospects in this field speakers at a discussion have underscored the need for creating congenial atmosphere for the working women for their more empowerment.
They viewed if the existing problems and other vulnerabilities were removed the womenfolk could become the driving force of development in different trades, vocations and income generations.
There is no alternative to create employment opportunities for trained women and strengthening industry linkage, they added.
They were addressing a daylong workshop titled “Enhancement of women participation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training” held at Rajshahi Women Polytechnic Institute (RWPI) in Rajshahi city yesterday.
RWPI organized the workshop in association with National Skills Development Council (NSDC where a number of prominent businessmen, social workers, women entrepreneur, industry owners and bankers attended.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Helaluddin Ahmed addressed the workshop as the chief guest with ABM Khorshed Alam, Chief Executive Officer of NSDC, in the chair.
Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, Director General of Technical Education Directorate Shahjahan Mian and RWPI Principal Omor Faruque also spoke.
The discussants mentioned that there is no way but to build skilled human resources to make the country self-reliant besides economic emancipation. The entrepreneurs should come forward towards establishing small and medium industries in the region to create employment opportunities for regional development, they added.
