Workers Party (WP) of Bangladesh has decided to contest the upcoming Upazila Parishad Election with party symbol ‘Hammer’.
The WP took this decision as per the proposal of the meeting of party’s politburo. All district units of the party have been asked to send names of probable party candidates for the upazila polls to the central office immediately, said a press release on Sunday.
Rashed Khan Menon presided over the two-day meeting while party general secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha presented a report on the current political situation, said a press release today.
The WP hoped that the Election Commission (EC) would take all necessary measures to hold the upazila elections in a free and fair manner.
Leaders of the WP will soon sit with the Chief Election Commissioner to discuss the overall situation of the upazila elections.
