Work unitedly with Liberation War spirit: President

President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday urged all countrymen at home and abroad to work unitedly imbued with the spirit of War of Liberation to expedite overall development and democratic advancement of the country.
“We have to go a long way for achieving the desired goals of Independence and building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh.
I believe concerted efforts from all strata irrespective of party affiliation are imperative in this regard,” he said.
In a message on the eve of the Independence and National Day, he greeted the countrymen and paid deep homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the War of Liberation in 1971.
The President said the people of our country are democratic and peace loving. They reject all sorts of violence including militancy and terrorism with abhorrence.
Laying emphasis on strengthening democracy for the overall development, he said tolerance, fortitude and respect to others opinion are the pre-conditions to flourishing democracy.
“Therefore, it is of paramount importance to maintain
patience, forbearance at all levels and to be respectful to
others opinion in a pluralistic democracy,” he said.
In these connections, the President urged all to make the
Jatiya Sangsad as the centre of excellence in resolving the
national issues through discussion.
“I am confident, everybody irrespective of party affiliation
would play responsible role in fulfilling the hopes and
aspirations of our people by playing due role,” he said.
The present Government, President Hamid said, has declared
‘Vision 2021’ for attaining ‘Golden Bengal’ dreamt by Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“It is my conviction that through implementing the ‘Vision’
people from all strata would contribute to build an IT-based
happy and prosperous Bangladesh from their respective position by
the golden jubilee celebration of our independence,” he said.
He said one of the prime objectives of the hard-earned
independence was to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh and
keeping that in mind, the government is putting untiring efforts
in materializing the objectives of independence.
In this context, the President said the country has achieved
some significant progress in the field of agriculture, education,
health, rural infrastructure, communication, ICT, SME, youth and
sports, women and children, women empowerment at the national
level.
“At the same time we have also attained notable advancement
in the corporate sectors including the area of readymade
garments, pharmaceutical, ceramic and ship-building industry,” he
added.
The President said the government is also very sincere to
establish the Rule of Law, Human Rights in the country. “Our
achievement at the international arena is also commendable,” he
said.
Recalling the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who proclaimed the country’s independence
in the early hours on March 26, 1971, he said responding to his
call the people from all walks of life joined the War of
Liberation and achieved victory through armed struggle.
President Hamid also recalled with deep reverence four
national leaders, valiant freedom-?ghters, organizers, supporters
and people from all walks of life for their unmatched
contributions and courageous role that accelerated the
achievement of our victory.
“The contributions of those valiant sons would be written in
golden letters in the history of our Independence forever,” he
said.
