Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology Teachers Association observed a token strike and work stoppage at university campus demanding separate pay scale for the university teachers abrogating the discriminatory proposed pay scale
No classes was conducted during the day due to token strike but the pre-scheduled departmental exams were held.Among others Vice chancellor of CUET Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, pro-VC Prof. Md. Rafiqul Alam, President of CUET Teachers Association Prof. Badius Salam, General Secretary Prof. Sandip Kumar Pal, Dean of CUET Dr. Farukuzzaman Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.
All teachers of CUET irrespective of opinions joined the token stike, a sources said. The speakers in the token strike urged the Prime Minister to accept their demands through formulating a new separate pay scale for teachers immediately. The speakers also mentioned about the existing of separate pay scale for teachers in our neigbouring countries viz. India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
