Women’s participation for national dev stressed

There is no alternative to enhanced emancipation of the women, half of the country’s total population, in the economic activities for attaining sustainable national development to build a middle-income nation.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Rahat Anwar said this yesterday at a ceremony arranged at RCCI auditorium here for distribution of beatification boxes and sewing machines among 40 trained women as the chief guest. Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) and Ministry of Women and Children Affairs jointly organised the eight-day training courses with the assistance of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).
The training courses on ‘Basic Beautification and Cutting on Tailoring’, arranged under the Development and Expansion of Women Entrepreneurship Programme of the Ministry, continued at RCCI auditorium from April 29 to May 7 last.
Forty member female entrepreneurs of Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RWCCI) and RCCI participated in the course with 20 each on ‘Basic Beautification’ and 20 others on ‘Basic Cutting on Tailoring’ trades. President of RCCI Abul Kashem presided over the ceremony while its Senior Vice-President of RCCI Mostafa Ahmed delivered welcome speech.
Project Director of the Development and Expansion of Women Entrepreneurship Programme and Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Kafil Uddin Kaiya, District Muktijoddha Commander and FBCCI Director Mosaddek Hossain Bablu and President of RWCCI Anwar Ferdousi Poly addressed as special guests.
Project Officer of FBCCI Chowdhury Kamrul Islam and Vice-president of RCCI Mozammel Haque Dambel also addressed the ceremony moderated by Director of RCCI Ashraful Alam Al Amin.
District Women Affairs Officer Laila Akhter Banu, Vice-president of RWCCI Morsheda Khatun, RCCI Directors Partho Bose, Enamul Haque Sohel, Rabiul Islam Mridul, Amjad Hossain Chowdhury, Sattyajeet Kumar Ghosh and Ramakrishna Somani and Senior Reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Mamun Islam attended.
The speakers said the country will continue to move forward with the advancement of the women to further expand economic activities of the government and accelerate pace of national development in building a middle-income nation.
