Women’s handball team grabs gold in Special Olympic

Bangladesh women’s handball team won gold medal in Special Olympic World Games that concluded on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Bangladesh women’s handball team beat their Netherlands counterpart by 5-1 goals in the women’s handball final to clinch the gold medal while Bangladesh men’s handball team secured silver after losing to India in men’s handball event. With this, Bangladesh improved their medal tally securing seventeen gold, eight silver and two bronze medals.
A 139-member contingent is representing Bangladesh in 11 disciplines – athletics, swimming, bouchi, table tennis, badminton, handball (women’s), handball (men’s unified), football (men’s and women’s unified), volleyball and basketball (unified). About 7,000 athletes from 190 countries took part in the eight-day meet.
Earlier, on Monday, Bangladesh secured 13 gold, six silver and two bronze medals.
They won five gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze in swimming, four gold medals in Bouchi, two gold medals each in table tennis and badminton, four silver medals in athletics and one bronze in basketball.
