Praising women’s contribution to every sector, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak said they are performing their duty brilliantly.
“Our women are contributing a lot towards various nation-building fields
… Sustainable development goals of the country will not be attainted, if women folks are not attached to mainstream of development,” he said this on Sunday while addressing as the chief guest the ‘City Bank-Colors Platinum Business Woman Award-2019’ function at a city hotel.
Palak also said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to empower women. The government has allotted a total of Taka 100 crore for the women entrepreneurs in the current budget, he said, adding the ICT Ministry is also providing them with various ICT trainings to make them more capable. Palak also welcomed the idea of honoring women with awards for their achievements.
High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly was present at the ceremony as special guest.
She congratulated the award winners and hoped that more women leaders will emerge in the days to come.
Rumana Chowdhury won Platinum Business Woman of the Year Award, Sausan Khan Moyeen won the Business Enterprise of the Year, Tania Wahab was the SME Enterprise of the Year, Amena Khatun won the Innovative Project of the Year, Trina Falguni got award as the Start-up of the Year, Fahmida Islam won the Innovative Solution of the Year in IT and Nabila Nowrin and Nahid Sharmin won the Rising Star of the Year award, jointly.
Editor and Publisher of Colors Magazine Zakaria Masud and Additional Managing Director of City Bank Sheikh Mohammad Maroof, among others, spoke on the occasion.
