The Indian High Commission, after a trial run, has decided to allow women to submit visa applications without prior appointment at their Uttara centre.
But the women visa-seekers need to have confirmed air, rail or bus tickets from authorised operators in India or Bangladesh while applying for the visa, the high commission said in a statement. “This is a goodwill gesture extended to women and their family
members to facilitate ease of securing Indian visas and to strengthen people-to-people contacts between India and Bangladesh,” it said.
The Indian High Commission, earlier, ran the service on trial basis for nearly two weeks.
The date of journey of the travel tickets should be seven days after but within a month of the submission of the visa application form. Women can also submit tourist visa applications on behalf of immediate family members who wish to accompany them to India.
