Women empowerment in Bangladesh lauded

Academics at a function held at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) on Monday highly lauded the incredible success achieved in the field of women empowerment in Bangladesh in last 10 years. “Bangladesh has already improved all indexes related to development and empowerment of women in every sector of the society under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” said Vice-Chancellor (VC) of BRUR Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah.
The VC said this at the function arranged in celebration of the seventh founding anniversary of the Department of Women and Gender Studies of the university at its Kobi Heyat Mamud Bhaban on the campus as the chief guest. He also inaugurated the observance programmes by cutting a cake with teachers and students of the department.
With Head of the Department of Women and Gender Studies of BRUR Delwar Hossain in the chair, the programme was addressed, among others, by Assistant Professors of the department Humayun Kabeer, Meer Tamanna Siddika and Kuntola Chowdhury and Lecturer of the Department of English Imrana Bari. The speakers said the teachers and students of the Department of Women and Gender Studies of BRUR have set up a glaring example for establishing congenial academic atmosphere in their department. They hoped that students of the department would successfully contribute to the national development in empowering women during their professional careers.
