Woman stabbed dead in city

A housewife was stabbed dead by her husband in city’s Shyampur area on Monday night over family dispute.
The deceased was identified as Shirin Akter, 35, was the wife of Litu Kazi, a rickshaw-puller by profession.
Neighbors caught Litu Kazi after the incident and handed over to police.
Sajeeb Kumar Dey, inspector (Investigation) of Kadamtali Police Station, said, “An altercation took place between the couple at night. At one stage, out of rage, Litu stabbed his wife with a knife indiscriminately.”
Hearing screams of Shirin, neighbors rushed to the house and rescued her. They took her to Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared Shirin dead.
Police found several injury marks on the body. They seized the knife from the spot.
The body was kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy, the police official said.
