Staff Reporter :A woman was shot dead by local miscreants at Ghagra Noadam village under Ghagra union of Kawkhali upazila in Rangamati district on Monday morning.The deceased has been identified as Chungula Chakma (30). Another person namely Haridhan Chakma was also bullet injured in the attack, police said. Quoting the locals, Kawkhali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nilu Kanti Barua said that a gunfight took place between the two rival groups in the village over establishing supremacy around 10:15am. Some local miscreants fired several rounds of bullets indiscriminately. At on stage, Chungula and Haridhar received bullet injured as they were caught in the line of fire during the gunfight. Chungula succumbed to injuries on the spot after passing few minutes. The body had been sent to the district Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the police official said.
