UNB, Chandpur :
A woman was killed as two launches sandwiched a boat in the Meghna River in Chandpur river terminal area of the district town on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Hamida, 35, wife of Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil of Puran Bazar area of the town.
Police said the accident took place in the area around 11am when the boat carrying Hamida was pinned by the two launches-‘MV Sonar Tori’ and ‘MV Prince of Rasel’, leaving Hamida critically injured.
She was rushed to Chandpur Government General Hospital where on-duty doctor declared her dead.
A case was filed in this connection. Mosharraf Hossain, sub-inspector of Chandpur River Police, confirmed the incident.
