Bagerhat Correspondent :
A woman paramedical practitioner named Dalia Begum (30) of Jatrapur bazar under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district who sustained severe burn injuries expired in Dhaka Medical College Hospital on March 27 after grime fighting with death for about long 2 months.
It is learnt from her husband Haidar Sardar that Dalia Begum had a medicine shop named as ‘Dalia Pharmacy’ at Jatrapur bazar.
At the night of February 5 (at about 9 pm) she closed her pharmacy as usual and left the same for her residence and when she reached Baitul Aman mosque of the bazar a number of miscreants led by her step paternal uncle Kalam Shaikh stopped her and set fire on her body after tying her hands, legs and face within moments in order to roast her alive out of previous enmity between Dalia and her uncle over land properties. At one stage when tying ropes of her hands were burnt she opened her face and cried out for help. On hearing the cry some neighbours rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. But in spite of that she sustained severe burn injuries on her person. She was at first admitted to the burn unit of Khulna Medical College Hospital for her treatment.
