A woman allegedly strangled her seven-year old son while seeking only Tk 10 to his mother at Char Ruhita union in Laxmipur Sadar upazila on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Kawsar, son of one Md Russel, a resident of Char Ruhita union in the upazila. He was first grader at Lokmania Hafizia Madrasa, Police said.
Neighbours said that Russel’s wife Swapna strangled her son around 11:00pm when he demanded Tk 10. Hearing Swapna’s screams, neighbours rushed to the scene and found Kawsar dead.
Laxmipur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Azizur Rahman said that Swapna used to quarrel with her husband over his second marriage and financial crisis that might led to the killing.
Police, however, detained four people including Swapna in this connection.
During initial interrogation, Swapna confessed to killing her son, said the OC.
