UNB, Faridpur :
A ‘drug edict’ man allegedly killed his mother in North Alipur area of the district town on Tuesday noon.
The deceased was identified as Amena Khatun, 55, wife of Mojahar Sheikh of the area.
Locals said Akkas Sheikh, 28, a rickshaw-puller, stabbed his mother severely as she refused to give him money for buying drugs.
Locals took her to Faridpur Medical Collage Hospital where she died around 2 pm.
Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Md Nazim Uddin said they were trying to arrest Akkas who went into hiding after the incident.
He also said Akkas was freed from jail on bail a few days ago in a drug case.
Sub-inspector of the police station Md Farhad Hossain said the body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
