A housewife was reportedly gang-raped by four youths in Mugrakanda area of Savar, on the outskirt of the capital Dhaka on Friday.
Police arrested one Shohidul, 40, on charge of the rape and produced him before a Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Dhaka which sent him to jail on Friday, our Savar correspondent reports quoting Saiful Islam, inspector (investigation) of Savar Model Police Station. This morning, the victim’s husband, who is a brick kiln worker, filed a case with Savar Model Police Station against Wahid, 30, Jewel, 20, of Panchagram in Lalmonirhat, and Alauddin, 40, and Shohidul, 40, of Bhurungamari in Kurigram in this connection.
In the case statement, the victim’s husband said he gave Tk 7,400 to one Alauddin, who is a labour leader of a local brick kiln three months ago with hopes of getting a work at the brick kiln. The victim’s husband frequently requested Alauddin to return the money as he failed to provide the work but Alauddin refused, the case statement said.
As he went to Alauddin’s rented house in the same area to take back the money around 12:00pm yesterday, all the four accused took him to a nearby Mahogany tree garden and tied his hands and legs to a tree there, the police official said.
They also called his wife there, where she was gang raped in front her husband.
The victim was sent to the one-stop crisis centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical test, the police inspector said, adding that they were trying to arrest the others accused
