A young woman has reportedly been gang-raped in a bus in Jeshore district.
Police rescued the victim early Friday and arrested six suspects over the incident.
The victim said she got separated with her husband five years ago. Since then, she had been living in her father’s house in Salikha upazila of Magura district. She got the job of aya at a Rajshahi clinic one year ago and since then, she has been residing in Rajshahi.
The woman said she boarded the ‘MK Paribahan’ bus on Thursday afternoon to return to her father’s house from Rajshahi.
She could not get down from the bus in Salikha as she fell asleep in the bus.
The victim woke up when a group of youths swooped on her at Monihar bust stand in the district town of Jashore. Later, they took turns to rape her inside the bus whereby she fell unconscious. On information, police rescued the victim around 3:30am on Friday.
Dr Zahid Hasan Himel of Jashore General Hospital said it can known after the medical test what happened to the woman.
Officer-in-charge of Jashore Kotwali Police Station Mohammad Moniruzzaman said they arrested six suspects over the incident and seized the bus.
