132 ‘Wash Blocks’ constructed in Jamalpur

Department of Public Health and Engineering (DPHE) has completed the construction of 132 ‘Wash Blocks’ at a cost of Taka more than five crore to provide fresh water and sanitation facilities to the primary schools students of the district.
In this regard, the government has allocated Taka 9.52 crore under a package programme to build 238 Wash Blocks-113 for boys and 125 for girls students of primary schools in seven upazilas of the district.
DPHE office sources said each Wash Blocks is consisting of 3 toilets-one for disabled students- and hand wash basin facility in a room. Besides, each of Wash Blocks has pure drinking water facility.
Md. Anwar Yusuf, executive engineer of DPHE, said 90 percent construction works of the rest 106 Wash Blocks have been completed.
The completed 132 Wash Blocks would be open soon for students to enjoy safe and hygienic sanitation facility, he said.
