Member of Parliament Ushaton Talukdar said woman empowerment is necessary for the country’s entire development. In this connection, he urged woman organisations to come forward and work for the distressed women of the society.
He was speaking as chief guest at a grant and sewing machine distribution programme at the conference room of Rangamati deputy commissioner’s office on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Shamshul Arefin chaired the programme. Among others, Chairman of Rangamati Sadar upazila Arun Kanti Chakma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Mostafa Jaman, Women Affairs Officer, Rangamati district unit, Konica Chakma, Monwara Jasim and women leaders also spoke at the function.
Later, Ushaton Talukder, MP, distributed Tk 5.25 lakh among 25 members of district Mahila Samity as an annual government grant. He also distributed 10 sewing machines among 10 poor and trained up women.
