With the arrival of more ships at Mongla Port its income on the increase

With the arrival of foreign commercial ships at Mongla Sea Port, the quantity of both export and import of goods was increased to a great extent as well as the activities of the port increased and became speedier. With the quick execution of various development projects taken by the present government’s operational activities of the port also increased to a great extent in comparison with the past years It is learnt from a source of the part authorities. The Port authorities expect that if this trend continues unabated the number of the arrival of foreign ships at the port will surpass one thousand within the year of 2021.
It is also learnt from the port authorities that some 83 foreign ships arrived at the port in the month of September while some 79 foreign ships arrived at the port in the month of October. Though the arrival of the container ships at the port is insignificant some 5 container ships arrived at the port in the month of October. Including all some total 162 ships arrived at the port during the months of September and October.
With the arrival of more foreign commercial ships at Mongla Port in the current year in comparison with the past years its (Port) income (revenue) is increasing rapidly. According to a statistics, in the financial year of 2009-2010 only 156 foreign ships arrived at the port. It is very significant that only within the difference of 10 years, as many as 162 ships arrived at Mongla Port in the last two months (September and October) only in the current financial year. It is also learnt from the concerned authorities that many worth-mentioning development works of Mongla Port were done during the last 11 years. Due to the utmost sincerity and efforts of the present government Mongla which once became almost a Dead Sea Port now got a new life and became a profitable establishment.
All the five jetties of the port were contented with foreign ships on October 25 of the current year for unloading the goods. On the other hand, some 6 other foreign ships were waiting in the out bar of the port on the same day. It is a record in the history of Mongla Sea Port since its inception. Besides this, on October 21 a foreign ship carrying the first consignment of machinery parts and materials of Ruppur Atomic Power Plant reached Mongla Port. According to Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, Chairman of Mongla Port Authorities, at present with the arrival of more ships at the port its (port) income (revenue) increased to a great extent and it is the sign of great achievement for the present government.
