Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar RahmanMostafa distributed 1,250 pieces of blankets among cold-hit people of five wards in the city on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The District Administration extended assistance in distributing the blankets received from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
The blankets were distributed in separate functions arranged at the offices of the respective City Councilors in wards no 6, 7, 8, 29 and 30.
Panel Mayor of Rangpur and City Councilor (Ward No-19) Alhaj Md.Mahmudur Rahman Titu attended the functions as a special guest. City Councilors of wards no 6, 7, 8, 29 and 30 and local elite were present in the functions. On the occasions, Mayor Mostafa highly lauded the government for standing beside the cold-stricken people of the city in mitigating their sufferings during the current sweeping cold wave. “Under the program, a total of 8,250 pieces of blankets will be distributed with 250 pieces among 250 cold-hit people of each of the 33 wards in the city,” he said.
He called upon the affluent people and different organizations to extend their assistance to the cold-stricken people alongside the government efforts for mitigating their sufferings.
Sylhet Bureau adds: Jaitun Welfare Trust distributed winter blankets (rajai) among 500 extremely poor families in 9 wards of Moglabazar Union on the grounds of Moglabazar Rebtirman Biennial High School on Tuesday morning.
Abdul Majid Lal Mia, the founder and chief patron of Jaitun Welfare Trust attend the programme as a chief guest. and his wife, Trust Chairperson Rabia Tahera Majid was present as the special guest.
Trust Vice President Enamul Kabir Presided over and Executive Member Md. Shahab Uddin Shihab conducted the programme.
Advisors of the Trust Sanaur Ali Sona Mia, Delwar Hossain, Executive Members of the Trust Jahangir Alam Musik, Moinul Islam Monju and Mujibur Rahman Jamal also spoke.
