A tribal woman died in the attack of a wild elephant at Khagrachhari in Longadu upazila of the district on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Taruna Chakma, 32, wife of Nanda Kumar Chakma of the village.
Nanda Kumar said the wild elephant vandalised his house in the area early morning. The elephant threw his wife Taruna from the hill when he and his wife tried to flee.
Being informed, the locals rescued Taruna and brought her to Longadu Upazila Health Complex where doctor declared her dead.
Sub-inspector Dulal of Longadu thana confirmed the matter. A case was filed with the Police Station in this connection.
