Right hand of Nurunnahar (25), a housewife of village Dakkhin Tafalbari under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district was cut off by her brute husband Sagir Akon (30) when she questioned him about his extramarital love affair with a married woman of the village on Tuesday afternoon.
She was recovered by the neighbouring people and was admitted to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition. Later she was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital when her condition became precarious.
Motaleb Molla, maternal uncle of Nurunnahar told the newsmen, Sagir was involved in an extramarital love affair with a married woman of the village whose husband has been living in abroad for long. In the afternoon an altercation was taken place between the husband and the wife over the husband’s extramarital affair and when it reached its climax the husband became furious and stroke repeatedly on the wife’s right hand with a sharp knife. As a result, the hand was detached from her body and she made a heart-rending cry. On hearing the cry when the neighbouring people rushed to the spot the accused husband fled away and went into hide.
Dilip Kumar Sarkar, Officer-in-charge of Sharankhola PS told, the matter has come to my knowledge and I already directed the police to arrest the accused husband.
