A housewife was beaten and poisoned to death allegedly by her husband over a dowry-related dispute at Kaliaganj in Boda upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mukta, 25, wife of Moklesar Rahman, a resident of the area.
Police, quoting victims’ family members, said Moklesar had married Mukta, daughter of Hossain Ali, a resident of Sardarpara in the upazila, a few years back and since then he had been inflicting torture on her for dowry.
On early Tuesday, Moklesar over the same issue beat Mukta mercilessly and poured poison into her mouth. Later in the morning he took Mukta to Boda Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared her dead.
