The High Court (HC) on Sunday sought explanation by May 12, 2019, from the authorities of the Hotel Intercontinental, a posh hotel in Dhaka, under what policy they sell a fixed product price four times more.
The HC bench of Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order while hearing a case filed under Consumer Rights
Protection Act, 2009. A consumer filed a case under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, with the HC seeking remedy as Hotel Intercontinental kept Tk 160 for a Sprite Cane whereas it was a product of fixed price of Tk 40.
During the hearing of the case, the HC said, “Under what policy the Hotel Intercontinental keeps a fixed product price four times more? The charges of higher prices against the aristocrat hotels are often found in case of services.”
Then the court asked the authorities of the Hotel Intercontinental to submit their explanantion of keeping higher price of the fixed price products within May 12.
