World Health Organisation has enlisted three types of Bangladeshi Corona vaccine invented by Globe Biotech Limited, in its list of Covid-19 vaccine candidates worldwide.
The world body said it in its website. Besides, Globe Biotech also confirmed it through a press release.
Globe Biotech said that three of its vaccines enlisted by the WHO, are D614G Variant mRNA vaccine, DNA plasmid vaccine and Adenovirus Type-5 Vector Vaccine.
A press release signed by Md. Harunur Rashid, Chairman of the Globe group, claimed that Globe Biotech is a lone pharmaceutical industry in the world whose three vaccines are enlisted on WHO’s candidates list.
Harunur Rashid on October 5 said that their vaccine has been successfully completed animal body trials.
He, however, expressed hoped that their vaccines will be available in markets by December or January if everything goes smoothly and gets government’s assistance.
Besides, on a bid to conduct trial on human body of the vaccine ‘Bancovid’, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between Globe Biotech and ICDDR,B.
ICDDR,B will conduct the vaccine’s trial on human body.
Rashid and ICDDR,B Acting Executive Director Dr. Tahmid Alam signed the MoU on October 14. After the signing ceremony, Dr. Tahmid Alam said they have to examine the results of the vaccine’s trials on animal bodies.
If they get positive result their organization will apply to Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC) for approval to start clinical trial.
“After getting the approval, we will start clinical trial on human body,” Dr. Tahmid Alam said.
Globe Biotech has started research on inventing the vaccine since March 8.
Officials of the company came with the announcement about inventing the vaccine on July.
