WFP to work for reducing malnutrition in BD

World Food Programme (WFP) expressed keen interest to work for formulating policy to reduce malnutrition from Bangladesh.
A two-member delegation of World Food Programme (WFP) expressed the interest on Tuesday during a visit with Women and Children Affairs Secretary Kamrun Nahar at latter’s office, said a press release here. During the meeting, the delegation apprised the secretary of different aspects of the research work called ‘Fill the Nutrient Gap Tool’ and sought all-out support in implementing the policy in Bangladesh. The delegation members are WFP Technical Advisor Dr Saskia de Pee and Senior Programme and Policy Officer Masing, the release said. Assuring the delegation of all kinds of cooperation to this end, Nahar said the malnutrition related research work would help the ministry in many ways to solve problems.
They also had detailed discussion of stunted people of the society who are facing the nutrition problems due to ignorance and financial insolvency.
WFP’s Fill the Nutrient Gap tool analyses the nutrition situation in a country and identifies the barriers faced by the most vulnerable to accessing and consuming healthy and nutritious foods.
