Weeklong Internet festival to begin on Sept 5

A weeklong Internet festival titled ‘Bangladesh Internet Week-2015’ will begin on September 5, aiming to raise the number of Internet users across the country and expand Internet services, said a press release.
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), Information and Communications Technology Department and Grameenphone will observe the festival by arranging fairs in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet and 487 upazilas of the country simultaneously.
The fair will remain open till September 11, said the release.
Different internet service providing companies, including leading e-commerce companies, mobile apps development institutions, web portal, device companies, will participate in the fairs.
A workshop titled ‘Internet Leadership’ was held at the auditorium of Institution of Diploma Engineers in the city’s Kakrail area on Sunday for raising the skill of ICT focal person in each upazila.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.
Additional secretary of ICT, Harunur Rashid, BASIS acting president and convener of Bangladesh Internet Week, Russel T Ahmed, Grameenphone director (stakeholder relations) Ishtiaq Hussain Chowdhury, spoke, among others, on the occasion.
