National Fisheries Week-2017 began yesterday with the basic objective to make the country self sufficient in fish.The theme of this year’s fish week is “Nirapad Machhe Vorbo Desh, Bodle Debo Bangladesh (Cultivate safe fish, change Bangladesh)”.
Chittagong district administration and District Fisheries Department have jointly launched various programmes to observe the week including raising public awareness in fish cultivation.
The week will formally opened yesterday (Wednesday) by releasing fish fries in city’s Askar Dighi followed by a procession.
This was disclosed by District Fisheries Officer Mohammad Mominul Hoque at a press conference held at Deputy Commissioner’s conference room with Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habibur Rahman in the chair. The other programmes include exhibition of documentary, discussion, quiz competition, anti-formalin drive, advocacy meeting and awarding prizes to the fishermen.
