The week-long tree fair (Brikhamela) at Shaheed Abdur Razzak Park in Satkhira got momentum with the presence of hundreds of people from all walks of life.
The Satkhira District Administration, Social Forest Department and Agriculture Extension Department jointly organised the fair.
The fair has begun on Thursday.
The fair opens at 9am and closes on 10am everyday.
A total of 13 nurseries took part in the fair with 150 types of herbal plant and fruit bearing trees.
Nezarat Deputy Collector ( NDC) of Satkhira Abu Sayeed told The New Nation that the participation of the people in the fair is satisfactory.
“The teachers, students, businessmen and other professionals have been taking part in the fair. The overall atmosphere of the fair is good,” the NDC said.
The Satkhira police have taken all-out security measures in and around the fair venue to avert any unpleasant incident.
The closing ceremony of the fair will be held on Wednesday. Abul Quashem Md Mohiuddin will preside over the function while freedom fighter Mir Mostaque Hossain Robi MP will be present as the chief guest.
