Week-long ‘Modhumela’ starts at Sagardari

A week-long ‘Modhumela’, in memory of legendary poet and dramatist Michael Mudhusudan Dutt, started at Sagardari village under Keshobpur upazila of Jessore from Saturday.
This is the 6th consecutive year that banglalink has sponsored the event organized by District Commissioner’s office, Jessore, says a press release.
Ismat Ara Sadeq MP, State Minister for the Ministry of Public Administration was present as chief guest.
Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, Jessore-3; Ranjit Kumar Roy, MP, Jessore-4; Shwapon Bhattacharya, MP, Jessore-5; Joydeb Kumar Bhodro, Police Super, Jessore and Babul Haque, Regional Commercial Head, Banglalink were present on the occasion as special guests.
To celebrate the event, hundreds of cultural personalities as well as thousands of mass people from all over the country gathered at mela venue.
 Babul Haque, Regional Commercial Head of Banglalink in his speech said, “We are deeply dedicated to upholding and promoting our local culture and uniqueness. Michael Madhusudan Dutt is one such icon of uniqueness, and the Modhumela has become one of the largest nationally celebrated festivals bringing together people from all walks of life. Banglalink is proud to be associated with a big traditional event like Modhu Mela.”
The seven-day long programme includes musical concerts, poetry recitations, dramas and speeches on the life and works of the poet.
