Webinar for parents, caregivers of special children held in city

Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA) of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Thursday organized a webinar for parents and caregivers of special children marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua addressed the webinar titled “Experience on the Management of Special Children during the Covid-19 Pandemic” as the chief guest, said a press release.
Founding Director of the IPNA and Professor of Paediatric Neurology Department Shaheen Akhter delivered welcome address in the webinar moderated by IPNA’s Training Coordinator Dr Muzharul Mannan.
IPNA Deputy Director (Administration) and Chairman of the Department of Child Neurology Dr Gopen Kumar Kundu and Deputy Director (Academic) Dr Kaniz Fatema were present at the event, among others.
The webinar featured live school activities and experiences shared by parents, as well as various aspects of children’s online school activities, especially academic practices, the release said.
According to the press release, the parents and caregivers have been facing various problems to manage their special children as all educational institutions across the country have remain closed due to the coronavirus pandemic since March 17 last year.
The sudden changes caused by the global pandemic have a huge impact on the families of these children, the release said, adding that the IPNA started online school activities since April 30 last year using online platform Zoom and CISCO to solve these problems.
