Bangladesh scored one goal each against their respective opponents of the ongoing SAFF Championship at Maldives. Defender Topu Barman scored against Sri Lanka on October 1, while Yeasin Arafat, the other defender scored against India.
Forward Matin Mia said, ” We want to take advantage of weakness of Maldives defense in next match against Maldives. Usually the forwards scored goals but any of the eleven players can score if he gets chance. We are trying to score.”
Maldives have forwards like Ali Ashfaq and Ali Fasir. But their defense is weaker than offense. Forward Matin Mia wants to execute the advantage of the weakness of defense line of Maldives.
He said, ” I saw their performance against Nepal. Their offense have capability but there is a weakness in their defense. We want to take the advantage of their weakness.”
Bangladesh scored six goals against their opponents in this season. Of them, the defenders of Bangladesh scored four goals. Mahbubur Rahman Sufil scored one goal in the Tri-Nation Invitational Tournament in Nepal. Sumon Reza scored one goal in Kyrgyzstan last month. As the defenders scored goals so the forwards of Bangladesh are under pressure. Matin Mia wants to be out of pressure in SAFF Championship. He said, ” Though the defenders scored most of the goals but it will give us inspiration. They scored two goals in the SAFF Championship. We have to do something now.”
Matin played for Bashundhara Kings in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football. Oscar Bruzon, who was the Head Coach of Bashundhara Kings, the Bangladesh Football Federation appointed him as the Head Coach of Bangladesh Football team recently.
Matin said, ” We are trying to follow the direction of our Head Coach. We can’t follow his direction hundred percent. But I am enjoying my position and I think I am doing well.”
Matin took part in the Sri Lanka match as a substitute player. He played against India in the space of Sumon Reza. Matin entered the Indian danger zone with the ball several times. Though he couldn’t score but he tried to make opportunities for his teammates. The soccer critics want to watch his performance against Maldives.
