Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said, “We did not say that election will be held in December. Who so said it was idle speculation, because it is not yet decided when the election schedule will be announced. However, who so murmured that election would be held in December, he did it from his own account.
After the inspection of the EVM display program in Sunamganj on Saturday afternoon, the CEC told it to the reporters in replies. KM Nurul Huda said, “Those who are opposed to EVMs, I request them to watch the use of EVMs. Then they will not oppose it. ‘
In response to another question, the CEC said that the use of EVMs depends on the amendment to the Representation of the People Order (RPO). However, it will not be possible to use EVMs in all the 64 districts. It will be used in a limited form. It has been shown in the 64 district’s development fairs to inform people about the use of EVMs.
Chief Election Commissioner Nurul Huda came to the development fair organized by the District Administration of Sunamganj at the Government Jubilee High School ground in the afternoon. After the inspection of the stall that participated in the fair, he talked to journalists.
Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj Mohammad Abdul Ahad, the Police Super Barkatullah Khan, Regional Election Officer of Sylhet Alimuzzaman, Sunamganj District Election Officer Murad Uddin Hawladar and Senior Officials of the District Administration were with CEC.
Earlier on 12 noon, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda inaugurated the wrestling competition organized at the district stadium as part of the development fair.
