Readers' Forum: WCF-2018: Bangladesh lost way!

Bangladesh lost to Kyrgyzstan 1-3 at home on Thursday in a World Cup Football (WCF) 2018 and Asia Cup Football (ACF) 2019 qualification match. The defeat has made their journey to the third round of the WCF almost impossible because two of the three other teams in the group are Asia Champions Australia and powerful Jordan.
But there is still a slim hope to land into the final round of the ACF, which will have 24 nations for the first time. Top three nations from each of the eight groups will sail into the final round of the continental tournament. There is no need to think of the WCF, rather think of the ACF.
Now Bangladesh must win at least three of the remaining seven matches. Their next match is against Tajikistan in Dhaka on June 16. Of the three goals scored against the home team on Thursday, one goal came from the penalty and the other from a free kick just outside the penalty box.
There was no need of infringement both inside and outside the penalty box. These were individual errors. These must be avoided. For win in a soccer match, both teamwork and individual brilliance are conditions. Paper work is not enough unless translated into action. Still we hope that the footballers will do their best to exploit the slim chance of cruising into the final round of the Asia Cup football 2019.
