Citizen Forum (Lok Morcha) has been formed at upazila level by the NGO Wave Foundation in Shibalaya. Uthali UP Chairman Abbas Ali presided over the ceremony.
Uthali Union Parishad Secretary Golam Mostafa, Entrepreneur Mostafizur Rahman, Wave Foundation District Coordinator Enamul Haque Khan Liton, Manikganj Sadar Upazila Programme Officer Nur Alam, Shibalaya Upazila Programme Officer Ashraful Islam, President and Secretary of Union Citizens Forum (Lok Morcha) and many others were present.
A nine-member working committee was formed at the Uthali Union Parishad auditorium of the upazila on Thursday (April 21) with the support of the presidents and secretaries of the citizens’ forum (Lok Morcha) of the seven unions of the upazila.
Vabesh Kumar Dutta was elected president and Tahmina Akter Lata secretary of the upazila committee. Besides, Shahnaz Begum Vice-President, Sridam Ravi Das Vice-President, Md. Nazimuddin Joint Secretary, Abdur Rahim, Md. Ali Jinnah, Abdul Quddus and journalist Mohammad Younus Ali were elected executive members of the committee.
Wave Foundation District Coordinator Enamul Haque Khan Liton said the Citizens ‘Forum (Lok Morcha) was formed on April 21 at the upazila level under the Citizens’ Demands Raising Project to Ensure Transparency and Accountability of Social Security Programmes. Citizens Forum (Lok Morcha) has already been formed at the union level. District level citizens’ forum (Lok Morcha) will be formed at the next Sunday. These committees will work in phases to ensure transparency and accountability in social security.
