Water vessels resumed sailing on Sunday morning after two days suspension from Friday due to inclement weather.
Officials said, the ferries began to operate at about 6:00am while launch and speedboat around 7:30am on the Shimulia-Kanthalbari route.
“The water vessels received government clearance after the weather became favourable for sailing in the river,” said Gias Uddin Patwary, Manager (Commerce) of Shimulia

Pontoon of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation.
The government suspended cruising of launch and speedboat around 11:00am, while ferry around 10:00pm on Friday on the route in view of the inclement weather and strong current in the River Padma.
Gias Uddin Patwary said that about 11 ferries are navigating passengers, buses, trucks and cars.
He said, “There is extra pressure of passengers and transports right now after the ferry operations remained suspended for 32 hours.”
Officials said that around 500 vehicles were waiting in queues near the pontoon to cross the river.
