Ministry of Water Resources is going to start an eviction drive to free small rivers, canals and other water bodies from illegal occupation across the country soon.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry Kabir Bin Anwar on Monday gave necessary instructions to the 64 district administrations and all Divisional Commissioners through video conference in this regard.
“We have already evicted 23,802 illegal infrastructures in several phases. We have recovered 1,027 acres of land,” Kabir Bin Anwar said. Additional Secretary of the Ministry Rukon Ud-Doula, Director General of Water Development Board AKM Wahed Uddin Chowdhury and Project Director of Small River-Cannels re-digging project Md. Asafuddoula were present, among others.
